Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® Scholarship

The 2014 award cycle is now closed. Please check back in February 2015 for the next available Grainger scholarship cycle.

Award amount:  $2,000.00 and a customized Westward® toolkit upon successful completion of a technical education program.

This scholarship, made possible through the generosity of W.W. Grainger, Inc., is awarded to students meeting the following requirements:

Be pursuing a degree in technical education and currently enrolled in at least 12 hours during the current semester (equivalent to a full-time student).

For the purpose of this scholarship, students must be enrolled in a qualifying industrial trade program degree program as determined by Grainger in its sole discretion. Qualifying degrees include any "skilled trade program" such as electronic systems, heating/air condititioning, plumbing, pneumatics, welding, automotive, construction, facilities maintenance or other industrial trade. Also eligible are students enrolled in a "public safety program" that leads to an associate degree or licensed certification in first responder, police officer, prison guard, firefighter, fire safety, emergency medical technician, emergency management or disaster preparedness.

Be in your final year of study and on track to graduate from their technical education program.

Grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

How to apply:

  1. Download and complete the application.

  2. Provide one letter of recommendation from a professor, teacher, or advisor.

  3. Print your transcript, demonstrating a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

  4. Provide a list of clubs, activities, accomplishments, leadership roles held and years involved, including those related to your field of study or military job experience.

  5. Provide an essay of 200-300 words on why you chose to study skilled trades/public safety, how your achievements and/or leadership roles have helped you grow individually and your future career goals.

  6. Submit your completed application package to the Office of Student Services, Room 101, by 5 p.m. on the deadline date.
