Upcoming Professional Development & Enrichment Opportunities

♦ Mountwest has a subscription to “20 Minute Mentor Commons” which offers on demand access to a library of topics that are only 20 minutes in length.  Included with each seminar are PowerPoint handouts and other supplemental materials. Topics include student engagement, teaching online, legal concerns and more. ♦ Mountwest is now a member of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD). To learn more about NISOD please visit

♦ Mountwest Faculty and Staff now have access to professional enhancement topics through Go2Knowledge. Training sessions are provided through Go2Knowledge's online learning software. There are over 100 trainings within six categories:  At-Risk Populations, Campus Safety, Organizational Development, Student Success, Teaching and Learning, and Technology.  In addition, Go2Knowledge offers a printable certificate of completion for every training taken. ♦ Mountwest has a subscription to Magna Commons, which offers a library of professional development online seminars for faculty and staff. To access these seminars please contact Karen Horner at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).for the access code.

♦ Continuing Education Alliance workshops are held the second Thursday of each month and topics will be announced in the Employee Connection as they are received.  Workshops are held at the New Baptist Church, 610 28th Street, Huntington, WV beside St. Mary's Center for Education. 

Mountwest Community &Technical College strives to promote and encourage professional enrichment opportunities for our faculty and staff. Please complete and submit the Conference/ Seminar Report form along with copies of materials (PowerPoints, website information, etc.) from conferences/ seminars attended to HR, Employee Development & Payroll - Suite G12. The information employees provide will enable our College to meet accreditation standards and to assist HR, Employee Development & Payroll  in determining how information learned may be put into practice within the institution.
