Administrative Technology

Students in the Administrative Technology program (AT) will be prepared for office careers in industry, government, medical, and/or educational settings by learning the various skills needed to succeed in today's technically advanced environments. Graduates of the Administrative Technology program at Mountwest are employed throughout the Tri-State area and beyond.

Administrative Technology Associate Degree Options:

Executive - Provide high-level administrative support by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence for receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings. May also train and supervise lower-level clerical staff.

Legal - Perform secretarial duties utilizing legal terminology, procedures, and documents. Prepare legal papers and correspondence such as summonses, complaints, motions, and subpoenas.

Medical - Perform secretarial duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinical, or laboratory procedures. Duties include scheduling appointments, billing patients, and compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence.

Medical Transcription - Perform duties as described in one-year certificate degree and may also perform basic billing and claims procedures.

Administrative Technology One-Year Certificate Degree Option:

Medical Transcription(One-Year) - Use headset and foot pedal to listen to recordings by physicians and other healthcare professionals dictating a variety of medical reports such as emergency room visits, diagnostic imaging studies, operations, chart notes, and summaries. Transcribe dictated reports, edit as necessary, and return reports in either printed or electronic form to the dictator for review and signature or correction.
